Aruba is a 32 km long island in the Caribbean Sea, 27 km north of the Paraguaná Peninsula, Falcón State, Venezuela, and it forms a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Unlike much of the Caribbean region, it has a dry climate and an arid, cactus-strewn landscape. This climate has helped tourism, however, as visitors to the island can reliably expect warm, sunny weather.

The Cast

The “white hats”

Natalee Ann Holloway - (NH, born October 21, 1986) is a white American 18 year-old from Mountain Brook, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham, who disappeared on May 30, 2005 during a post-graduation trip in Aruba.

“The Alabama Crew” self-dubbed as “The Fabulous Seven” also known by detractors as HMI - “Holloway Media Inc.”

Beth Holloway, Beth Twitty, (Holloway-Twitty, BHT) - Natalee's mother.

“Jug” Twitty - Beth's current husband and Natalee's step-father. A forceful personality, apparently quite wealthy and well-connected both in Alabama and in Aruba.

Jug's temper was evident from the first night when he lost it three times in Joran's driveway, once with the attending police; later with Dompig; a violent confrontation with helper Renfro who obtained a restraining order against him; and a serious falling-out with Charles Croes. It is ironic then that through the smoke of burning bridges Beth has asserted that Joran has “anger management issues”.

Dave Holloway - Beth's previous husband and Natalee's natural father. Kept out of the loop for the first few days.

In January 2006 these statements had still not been made available to Aruban police. By mid-2006 there remain a small number, about half-a-dozen, of unknown Mountain Brook students who continue to refuse to be interviewed by the FBI.

Media

...and they call this “Journalism”!?!?

Jossy Mansur, the director and editor of Aruban newspaper “Diario”.
This newspaper has been the source of a large number of attention-grabbing items and editorials concerning the case, most of which have turned out to have little or no basis in fact. Readers of Diario would be wise to remember that Mansur has an agenda and major domestic political axe to grind, backs the Aruban political opposition, and therefore its editorial policy is hostile to the ruling Aruban administration. Mansur has drawn unfavorable attention in previous US money-laundering investigations.

Greta Van Susteren - Fox Cable presenter who has come to “own” the case. The Holloway case is credited with giving Van Susteren a huge boost in ratings. Van Susteren is a Scientologist.

Dr Phil (Dr. Phillip C. McGraw) - ran what turned out to be a doctored video tape supplied by Private Detective and 'Polygrapher' Jamie Skeeter perportedly showing Deepak Kalpoe admitting to having sex with Natalee. This tape was later found to have the critical section tampered with to invert the response from “no” to “yes”. This was a very shameful example of fabricating evidence to frame someone. Egg on PI and Dr Phil. Minus several million for credibility.

In defence of Dr Phil's crew; this drop-in sound edit was really amateurish - Phil's crew at least have high production standards and would be capable of making such an edit almost undetectable; so it can only have been done by Skeeter himself.

But at the bottom line Dr Phil is responsible for what he puts to air, and this was a blatant attempt to falsely incriminate Deepak Kalpoe. Dr Phil's theory is that Natalee was kidnapped to the White Sex Slave trade and is still alive somewhere in South America, hence employing Skeeter to trawl brothels looking for her.

The death of Natalee Holloway is a tragedy in every sense of the word. It is a tragedy compounded by screaming skulls (as opposed to talking heads) like Nancy Grace, a pseudo-journalist who has successfully managed to purge any gray matter she might have of anything she was supposed to learn in law school about the Bill of Rights. Nancy Grace is a poster child for what is wrong with cable “news” shows.

Angela Munzenhofer - American who owns Aruban restaurant; early support for Beth and loaned $3000 ransom; alienated by Twitty/Renfro incident (see Jug above).

Paul Lilly - a MB chaparone who remained behind. Famous for “we were only there for emergencies”. Still hasn't explained why losing Natalee wasn't an “emergency”.

Jan van de Straaten - crusty Dutch police superintendant

Arthur Wood - retired Secret Service agent, Jossy Mansur informant/ Diario “investigator”.

Eric Mansur - Jossy's cousin and employer of “Cumpa”

T.J.Ward - Atlanta private investigator hired by Twitty's, found “Cumpa” credible. A Dutch Judge didn't because Joran and Deepak were known to be home when “Cumpa” “saw” them raping Natalee by the salt pond.

Nelson Oduber - Aruban Prime Minister

“Poom poom” - homeless man; source of T.J.Ward “body in landfill” story.

“Bootie” - Boeti is Xavier Naar, 42 - a “colourful local figure”. The general consensus seems to be that he is a drug-addled opportunist who is the ultimate unreliable witness. Seems to live on Palm Beach.
